Story making requires a few things: a maker, a maker space, and a story. We will create a space with craft materials so that your child can tinker, invent, create and explore with a wide variety of real tools. This will allow the minds of your young person to imagine, play and share their everyday stories of their lives. Parents and facilitators will help to capture the maker story with words and participants will create their own storybook to take home.
All ages with caregiver. Run in partnership with the Vancouver Island Regional Library
Creative Storymaking consists of 3 parts on 3 consecutive Saturdays, as follows:
-Day 1 (Oct. 5): Explore theme and ideas for a Storybook. Decorate book covers. Come prepared to paint and craft!
-Day 2 (Oct. 12): Develop story pages by collaging with your caregiver. Script and craft your story with beginning, middle and end.
-Day 3 (Oct. 19): Create an “about me” page as the author of your own Storybook. Enjoy a “maker’s moment” when you are invited to share your own story! Take your own hand crafted storybook home as a keepsake!
